THIS will certainly be a big boost to the national women’s volleyball team competing in next year’s Southeast Asian Games.
Efren Uy, president and chief executive officer of F2 Logistics, confirmed to FOX Sports Philippines their group’s desire of helping our Lady Spikers competing in the biennial meet.
With several players from La Salle, a team which is being supported by the logistics company, likely to play for the national squad, Uy expressed his desire to support the volleybelles.
“Mga three or four years ago when I started supporting La Salle,” Uy said. “We just connect together, because we (F2 Logsitics) were putting up a team earlier. That’s our PSL team. We think of basketball, other sports kasi we think wasn’t right to be now. Volleyball is interesting. So we put up a team, that time we met with PSL heads. Aby (Maraño) was there, Cha (Cruz) was there, and Paning Mercado (daughter of Lydia de Vega).”
“That was our core last time.”
Uy’s group continued to support volleyball and hooked up with La Salle. The enthusiasm he had when asked on the possibility of supporting the national team isn’t surprising.
“Of course, we’re interested. Some of the players in the national team, we were supporting them, too, in the UAAP,” added Uy.
