Coach Nes Pamilar lauds locals for total team effort in win against BanKo

While on paper it was Amporn Hyapha who did most of the damage for the Tacloban Fighting Warays in their victory against BanKo Perlas, Coach Nes Pamilar still praised the efforts of the locals to help carry the team to a back-to-back victory.

Amporn delivered 28 points off 25 attacks and three blocks. The locals, on the other hand, totaled to 39 points with Jovielyn Prado doing the heroics with 16 points.

“‘Yung local din lahat talaga tumulong at nagcontribute. Hindi sila nagpa-easy easy. Nagtrabaho sila as a team talaga,” Pamilar said.

Unlike their previous matches, Pamilar also noticed that the team are more intact and are now jelling well.

“Ngayon kasi parang nagkakagamayan na kasi sabi ko nga doon sa mga locals na hindi pwedeng umasa lang tayo sa kanila. Kailangang naguusap-usap,” the coach said.

Although there could be miscommunication due to the language barrier between the locals and the two Thai imports, Pamilar said in the sport of volleyball there is a universal sign which every country uses. So it should be utilized, according to him.

“‘Yung communication ngayon ay mas maganda compared dati. Hanggang sa huling point namin talagang naguusap-usap sila,” he said.

“Kahit sabihin natin na hindi masyadong makaintindin. Sa senyas naman nagkakaintindihan naman. Kaya minsan sa senyas na lang sila nagkakaintindihan,” Pamilar said.

With the win, the Lady Warays are now 2-1 in the standings and will next face Balipure, a team mostly composed of high school standouts from the Nazareth School of National University.

To this the coach said: “Huwag nating i-understimate. Respetuhin natin, laruin natin nang tama at bigyan natin ng magandang laban.”
