Arsenal told that Chelsea star will be willing to join them if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves

Arteta confirms Mari interest after Mustafi injury in Arsenal win over Bournemouth

Arsenal fans may well be seeing a familiar face back at the Emirates Stadium if transfer expert Ian McGarry is to be believed after his claims point to the fact that Olivier Giroud could be heading back to North London.

It is being reported by The Express that Chelsea have offered Giroud plus cash to Lyon for the services of their striker Moussa Dembele, and while that transfer is being pondered, things may change closer to home.

The future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in serious doubt after the recent troubles faced by the Gunners, and should he end up leaving, Chelsea may choose to send Giroud back to Arsenal.

“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s representatives have made it very clear to Arsenal that their client wants to leave Arsenal in January,” McGarry revealed on the Transfer Window Podcast.

Arteta ‘disappointed’ as Arsenal lose to Chelsea at home

“Aubameyang has the type of personality that he would certainly agitate for a move if that were the case that he needed to.

“There’s definite interest from Real Madrid and also Barcelona for the 30-year-old who is the second top scorer in the Premier League.

“Now, that would mean Arsenal are short of a striker.

“Who do you go for? Oh look, there’s Olivier Giroud over at Chelsea, he’s a former Arsenal player, he knows the team, he knows the club, maybe he would be open to coming back.

“It’s not the biggest stretch of imagination and I understand that Giroud would be open to moving back to Arsenal and staying in London.

“That wouldn’t necessarily affect Chelsea’s interest in Dembele. Dembele’s valued at around €60m, they certainly have that money to spend.

“Of course they had no incomings last summer because of the transfer ban which has now been lifted, so Chelsea are willing to spend.

“I believe Lampard would not be averse to letting Giroud going to Arsenal, after all they allowed David Luiz to go there last summer just at the end of the transfer window.

“There’s reasonable relations between the clubs so there’s no history that would prevent them selling Giroud to Arsenal.

“He’s going to be cheap, probably around £5m, in the last six months of his contract. So I can see Giroud moving south to France or north London.”

Reports: Manchester United put Everton striker on top of their list after Haaland snub

‘Vardy is the squad to face Aston Villa’ – Rodgers

Manchester United may have failed in their efforts to sign Erling Braut Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in the upcoming transfer window, but have quickly shifted focus to within the Premier League.

The Sun are reporting that the Red Devils still believe they need to strengthen their attack, and for that purpose are looking at Everton for one of their top strikers.

The report says that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has impressed the powers that be at United, and that after missing out on Erling Haaland, he might well be the man they turn to.

Calvert-Lewin ‘can be one of the top strikers in Europe’ – Ancelotti

A first look at the English striker would suggest that he would fit perfectly into the plans of the English giants, considering his attributes are similar to the kind of player manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for.

The Norwegian has specified in the past that he is keen on building his squad around “young and hungry” players, and Calvert-Lewin fits that bracket better than anyone else in the Premier League.

However, the 22-year-old would cost somewhere in the region of £50m and would be difficult to purchase considering that new Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to build his own side around Calvert-Lewin.

Other European clubs are also in the running to sign him, so United better move fast if they are to secure the deal soon.

Mino Raiola attacks Manchester United, reveals real reason why Erling Haaland rejected them

‘Vardy is the squad to face Aston Villa’ – Rodgers

Manchester United have failed to sign Erling Braut Haaland when it seemed for all money that the deal was going to happen, and the Norwegian’s agent Mino Raiola has now come out publicly and explained why.

According to Raiola, United need to take a long and hard look at themselves and find out why one of the hottest young talents in Europe felt that moving to Borussia Dortmund was a better option for his career.

“The club that he had the most direct contact with him was United,” Raiola told The Telegraph.

“They spoke to him the most. Everybody had the chance to talk to him in person. We let that happen especially when he knows Ole.

“Clearly he felt that at this moment it was not the right step in his career. There is nothing against Manchester United or Ole.

“He chose Borussia Dortmund ahead of them and other clubs and I’m very happy because he is going to the club he wanted to go to and that is best for him right now.

Erling Braut Haaland signs for Dortmund

“If he wanted to go to Manchester United I would have been obliged to take him to Manchester United, but he did not.

“When you are 19 then maybe you prefer not to go to the Premier League. The offer from Manchester United was good.

“It was not about the economics. It is just the player chose Borussia Dortmund at this stage of his career.”

Raiola further expanded on claims that perhaps he was the reason that the Red Devils were hesitant in signing Haaland.

“I do not know if Manchester United are briefing this but if they are then they are covering their own loss and that I find strange and disappointing,” he said.

“There was no fall-out between me and [United executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward. It was just a normal negotiation and the player has chosen a different path.

“If they want to blame someone then fine, blame me, but the player is happy. He has made his choice and we went through a normal process.”

Reports: Manchester United turn to Portuguese midfielder after failing to sign Erling Haaland

Arteta confirms Mari interest after Mustafi injury in Arsenal win over Bournemouth

Manchester United failed to sign Erling Braut Haaland when it seemed like the deal was done, but the Red Devils have now turned their attention to filling the midfield role, and have their sights set on one Portugal International.

Sky Sports are reporting that United are interested in Gedson Fernandes, who is currently playing at Benfica. The midfielder may not be one of the high profile names that the club has been linked with recently, but he seems to have enough quality to keep the big names interested.

The 20-year-old has reportedly fallen out of favour with Benfica coach Bruno Lage, and the player’s representatives are keen to find him a club in England that would cost any team somewhere in the region of £34m after a loan spell.

The report also says that Fernandes has a release clause worth a whopping £102m, but Benfica believe that realistically they aren’t in a position to demand that much money for a player who hasn’t featured in the last seven games.

It remains to be seen whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would take a gamble on another Portuguese player after the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani did so brilliantly at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fans troll Lionel Messi for hilarious Christmas day outfit

‘It doesn’t change anything’ says Zidane as Real Madrid top La Liga

The Messi family dressed up and took photos along with the Christmas tree recently, and the outfit worn by the family (well, most of it anyway), has got fans talking.

The Argentine magician’s wife Antonella Roccuzzo took to Instagram to share a lovely picture of the family on Christmas where the couple and their kids all line up for a photograph of the ages.

While Messi looks content to be around his family on Christmas, his outfit was certainly one that caught the eye.

The photo drew some interesting responses from fans, and 90min picked out the best out of the lot.

“Messi’s wife forced him to wear this,” one fan said.

Another went with: “Messi looks like a McDonald’s mascot.”

While a third responded with: “Messi to Atletico Madrid”.

A fourth made it about the Premier League leaders: “So Messi is a Liverpool fan.”

Lionel Messi reveals key advice given to him by Barcelona great Samuel Eto’o

‘It doesn’t change anything’ says Zidane as Real Madrid top La Liga

Lionel Messi may be banging in the goals now for Barcelona, but that wasn’t always the case. The Argentine felt that he was starting out slow in his career at the Blaugrana, until some advice from a teammate changed everything.

“I remember many times Eto’o told me, ‘the day you start scoring goals, you’re going to be…'” Messi told La Liga, per Marca.

“Because he had a lot of chances and he didn’t score [at the start of his career].

“Until one day everything opened up, [then] they went in and all started going in.”

The superstar forward then explained what it means to be the highest La Liga scorer.

“Being La Liga’s top goalscorer, with what La Liga in Spain means, is special,” Messi said.

“Actually, I think it’s one of the more beautiful records that I have.”

He also spoke about his deadly free-kick ability.

“Yes, in the last few years I began to look and see if the goalkeeper moves before I hit the ball,” Messi went on.

“[To see] if he takes a step or not, how the wall is placed.

“I study it more now. And I started improving the way I hit the ball during training.”

Jose Mourinho reveals Tottenham star did not want to play against Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 in the Premier League on Boxing Day, but Jose Mourinho revealed that one Spurs player did not want to be picked for the game.

Mourinho might have chosen to start with Tanguy N’Dombele for the game, but the Portuguese manager later bizarrely claimed that the Frenchman did not wish to be picked at all.

“I cannot say that he is injured because in five minutes we start a training session that you could watch from the stands and he will be training normally,” Mourinho told reporters in his post-match press conference.

‘The boys gave everything in 2nd half’ – Mourinho after Spurs win

“So I cannot say he is injured. I can say that yesterday he told me he was not feeling in condition to play the game, not based on injury but on fears of previous injuries that he has had since the start of the season, two, three or four muscular injuries and the feeling of not being ready to start the game.

“But I cannot say that he is injured, I can only say he is not in condition which is a different thing.”

It took a herculean effort in the second half to turn the game around, with goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli proving to be the difference for Spurs.

Manchester United star leaves Old Trafford on crutches after 4-1 win over Newcastle

‘Vardy is the squad to face Aston Villa’ – Rodgers

Manchester United were rampant and impressive in their 4-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford, but there was a disappointing bit of news for fans as one of the club’s top stars appeared to leave the pitch with an injury.

The Scot appeared to take a blow to the knee in the first half and struggled to carry on with the game for a brief period of time, before heroically shrugging it off and continuing the game.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced him with Paul Pogba at half-time however, and it soon became clear that this was because of a knee injury.

“He’s done his ligament in his knee, probably. We don’t know how bad it is, so let’s see,” Solskjaer told the media after the game.

“The boy has got the biggest heart of the lot. He played until half-time but we know when they stiffen up after. We’ll have to find out tomorrow, how he is.

“You see the attitude of the kid, of everyone, in the beginning of the game. I’m not sure if he’ll be ready for Saturday [against Burnley]. Probably not, but we’ve seen him recover before.”

McTominay was later spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches, which is a sight no United fan wants to see.

Fans in awe of Liverpool as Reds destroy Leicester 4-0 and go 13 points clear

Liverpool ran riot at the King Power Stadium as they destroyed Leicester City 4-0 and stamped their authority on the Premier League title race like few could have expected at the start of the season. Fans are just as impressed.

The result means that the Reds go 13 points clear at the top, and have virtually sealed the league trophy in the month of December, and fans had nothing but praise for the club on Twitter.

Manchester City superstar becomes most valuable player in Premier League transfer market

‘Vardy is the squad to face Aston Villa’ – Rodgers

Manchester City may well have been the Premier League team of the decade, and the reigning Champions have good reason to be confident about the coming decade as well. As a team they continue to do well, and even individually, the honours keep on coming.

The latest Premier League player market values sees Raheem Sterling get to the top of the tree, as was revealed by Transfermarkt.

Los Blancos may have to keep the cash handy however, as the latest transfer market values show Sterling’s stock rising to an impressive €160m, keeping him above his City teammate in Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne has been equally impressive this season for the Sky Blues, raking up the assists in the league, and his value is currently €150m in comparison.

Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane all have a similar market value of €150m, which means that top European clubs looking to secure their services will have to shell out more than just a little moolah to get their hands on these sharpshooters.

WATCH: Luis Suarez names Lionel Messi as best striker ever, Cristiano Ronaldo not in top five

‘It doesn’t change anything’ says Zidane as Real Madrid top La Liga

Luis Suarez may be one of the greatest strikers in the footballing world, but when he was put on the spot, he didn’t name himself in his top five strikers list. Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi topped the charts.

The Barcelona front man named Romario of Brazil in number five position, owing to his lovely finishing ability, and then named the likes of Ronaldo Nazario, compatriot Diego Forlan and even Batistuta in a star-studded lineup.

When it came to choosing the best ever, the decision was simple for Suarez, as he picked Lionel Messi as the greatest striker and few can dispute that.

What was a bit surprising however was that Cristiano Ronaldo featured nowhere in the list, which may be a decision that can be questioned considering CR7’s incredible numbers and milestones achieved.

Nonetheless, it was an intriguing interview with a man who continues to excite Barca fans with his goal scoring ability.

Argentina World Cup winner Diego Maradona reveals he was abducted by a UFO

Dorados coach Diego Maradona

He may have been the world’s greatest player more than three decades ago, but time has since changed Argentina legend Diego Maradona. His health and state of mind has been questioned recently, and now claims by the World Cup winner suggest all might indeed not be right with the man.

The 59-year-old has said in an interview that he went missing for three days after drinking too much, and claimed that he was abducted by a UFO.

“Why make things up?” he said to Argentinian channel TyC Sports on a question about UFOs.

“Once, after a few too many drinks, I was missing from home for three days.

“I got home and said that UFOs had taken me. I said ‘They took me, I can’t tell you about it’.”

Maradona almost single handedly took Argentina to World Cup glory back in 1986, during a time when it was clear that he was the best player the world had ever seen.

However, reports of alcohol and drug abuse have somewhat marred his legacy since, and he certainly doesn’t help his cause by making statements about believing in UFOs.

Nonetheless, the former player continues to remain in football, currently the manager of Gimnasia y Esgrima in Argentina, and is certainly a hero in the eyes of his fans in the country.

Kylian Mbappe miles ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi at the age of 21

Neymar pays tribute to the late Bryant after scoring for Paris Saint-Germain

Kylian Mbappe may not have won any Ballon d’Or trophy just yet, but there is enough reason to believe that the electrifying youngster will be in the running very soon. In fact, at the age of 21, he is actually miles ahead of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe recently turned 21, and his career thus far has been sensational. After breaking through as a teenager at AS Monaco, the Frenchman has made constant strides in his career, eventually becoming an even bigger star at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and winning the World Cup with France.

Stats show that the forward has now bagged a total of 103 goals in his career, and if you’re wondering how many Messi and Ronaldo managed by then, chances are you’ll be surprised.

These numbers show that Ronaldo only had 27 goals to his name by the age of 21, while Messi only had 48 at Barcelona. In fact, even the likes of Neymar Jr and Sergio Aguero are ahead of the two icons in this regard.

Neymar had 72 goals by the age of 21, while Aguero had 75, but nobody compares to the 103 of Mbappe, which is proof that this young gun is going to be at the very top of the game for years to come.

Paul Pogba’s brother reveals Liverpool will “destroy” Atletico Madrid in UCL Round of 16

‘I haven’t seen a better Liverpool side.’ John Arne Riise hails current Reds as the best

In a rather surprising admission considering his sibling’s current club, Paul Pogba’s brother Mathias Pogba has revealed that the UEFA Champions League (UCL) Round of 16 tie between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid will be one-sided.

Speaking on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones, Mathias explained that he believes the class of Liverpool will be on display, and that they will “destroy” their knockout round opponents.

“Prepare yourself. Liverpool are going to destroy (Atletico) Madrid. That is it,” he said on the show.

“(Renan) Lodi is going to stop Salah? My friend Lodi is not going to be able to send a single cross because he is going to be focused on stopping Salah.

“He is going to be very tired.”

Mathias Pogba is currently playing for Manchego in the Spanish fourth tier, and also revealed that Naby Keita will have a part to play in this tie.

“My friend from Guinea,” he went on.

“You will see how he controls the midfield.”

He finally ended by assuring everyone that he is not at all being partial to Liverpool.

“I do not care (who wins),” he ended his argument with. “I am just saying what I think like everyone else here.”
