Wolfgang x Rizaleno secured the Metro East Hoops Bronze+ title with a hard-fought 125-121 victory over Total-Jimms at the King’s Landing in Filinvest East, Cainta, Rizal.

Wolfgang x Rizaleno secured an early 30-11 lead, but Total-Jimms slowly but surely chipped away from their lead. Total eventually completed their comeback midway in the 3rd quarter, with their biggest lead standing at 80-75.

Wolfgang x Rizaleno mustered enough poise to get back the lead they lost, led by the timely baskets of Chris Baarde and Jocel Ponciano. There were some tense moments in the dying seconds, thanks to the heroics of Total players Nemesis Dela Cruz and Larry Rivera. In the end, Wolfgang x Rizaleno have just enough left in the tank to claim one last victory and the championship.

Jocel Ponciano was the hero for the night and the Finals MVP, leading Wolfgang x Rizaleno with 30 points and 8 rebounds, with most of his points crucial in helping his team keep their lead throughout the game. Chris Baarde also added 25 points and 15 rebounds of his own. Nemesis Dela Cruz led Total-Jimms with game-high numbers of 34 points and 17 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Metro East Hoops Gold action continued at King’s Landing, Cainta, Rizal with its second week of action. Zone XII All-Stars was able to take down Congen 79-76. Bratpack secured their second victory at the expense of Aga.Ph 108-100. Lastly, Tanduay Hoyas ran away with a 117-86 win over Arnel & Cel Meat Shop.

Cid Castillo was named the player of the week, thanks to his breakout performance for Tanduay Hoyas in their last victory. He tallied 44 points on 8 3-pointers, with 33 of those coming in the 1st half alone.

On August 10, the fourth week of the Metropolitan Basketball League Central Chapter 2 – Division 3 continued at the Playdium Arena in Quezon City. In the first game, Pasig Smashers had a statement game as they destroyed Black Mamba 101-46. In the second game, PH Avengers was able to escape with a 67-64 victory over BNT Synergy.

Tulio of the Pasig Smashers secured Player of the Week honors with all-around numbers of 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in by far the most dominant performance for any team this season.
