MEMBERS of the Pinoy Youth Dreamers basketball team will once again compete in different age categories led by the under-15 team that won the championship of the Asia Pacific event last year.

They will compete from October 23 to 28 in Singapore.

Beaujing Acot, founder and head coach of the PYD, will bring in two more squads that are going to compete in Singapore — the under-13  and under-18 squads.

“We will be bringing three teams. It’s our first time to join the U-13 division and sana mag-champion. Hopefully, ma-defend natin ang U-15 crown natin while this will be our 3rd year sa pag-join sa U-18,” added Acot.

Currently on its seventh year, Pinoy Youth Dreamers aims to  develop the character of every player before focusing on their skills and be extra sensitive to the needs of others before himself.

According to Acot, players were selected from different parts of the country — from Bacolod, Cebu, Tacloban and Metro Manila.

“All players went under training with our PYD coaches nationwide. We wanted to showcase their talent internationally and also inspire them to dream more and learn different cultures,” added Acot.

PYD is an active member of the Youth Program of SBP and has served as feeder program of Philippine Youth Basketball.

“We would like to thank Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Mr. Sonny Barrios and Mr. Bernie Atienza and also Mr. Harold Villanueva of JH Athletics as the official outfitter of Team Pilipinas of Pinoy Youth Dreamers.” added Acot.

PYD is an NGO that gives opportunity for everyone and let basketball be a way of life.
