After absorbing their first loss of the season, Bullpups’ star John Lloyd Clemente rued that they failed to execute their gameplan in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 78 Juniors finals.
The Bullpups missed the opportunity to sweep the season and hoist the high school championship trophy on Friday as they got outworked by a spirited Junior Archers in the second half.
“Sa akin, kung masweep namin okay lang, pero sa nangyari ngayon nawala na yung gusto naming sweep,” said the 17-year old Clemente, who is a part of this season’s Mythical Five.
Yung 16-0 lang po yung nawala,” he added.
The Pampanga native willed his way to 25 points and 6 rebounds but only his towering partner Justine Baltazar responded to La Salle’s all-around effort to extend the series, producing another double-double performance with 15 points and 20 boards.
Bullpups’ lack of urgency in the game allowed Zobel’s bench to outscore their counterpart, 19-7, as the Aljun Melecio-led squad started gaining momentum down the stretch.
With another chance to clinch the crown next week, Clemente believes that their first loss won’t damage Bullpups’ morale.
Di pa tapos yung laban, yung 16-0 lang yung nawala,” he emphasized. – By Jason Mercene
