San Miguel forward Arwind Santos’ mother Araceli, a regular fixture in the PBA games, passed away early Monday morning.
“Thank you all for your prayers. I am sure mama let is safe in heaven and at peace with the lord now. appreciate it so much! we love you mama let!” Ivette Santos, Arwind’s wife, posted on her Facebook account on Monday.
San Miguel team manager Gee Abanilla said since Sunday, he has been exchanging text messages with the 1-time PBA MVP as the latter sought prayers for his mother.
“Kahapon we were exchanging text messages about his mother because he was asking for prayers,” said Abanilla, who is unsure of the real cause of Santos’ mother’s death.
“Nakakalungkot at nakikiramay din kami. Tita Cel has been a regular fixture since Arwind started his PBA career,” he added.
The remains of Araceli Santos lies at the Evergreen memorial Chapel along C. Raymundo Avenue, Pasig City.
Mrs. Santos, a staunch supporter of the San Miguel forward, suffered from profuse nose bleeding while watching the Commissioner’s Cup game between the Beermen and Talk N Text on March 18, 2015.
She was rushed out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum during the 2nd half of that game and had to deal with respiratory issues since then. – By Richard Dy
