Top Five: Steph Curry’s best performances

Basketball 3-pointer: High school athlete with a disability hits shot of a lifetime

On Tuesday, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was named the NBA’s MVP for the second successive season.

There is no doubt that Curry deserved the award and he became the first player to be unanimously voted MVP as he secured all 131 first place votes.

Curry has stolen the spotlight throughout the 2015/16 regular season and in honour of his MVP award, we have picked out his top five performances.

5. 40 points vs New Orleans Pelicans

How many players can say that they began their NBA season with a 40-point night? Well, Curry can put his hand up for that as he did so against the Pelicans. The 28-year-old made 14 of the 26 shots he attempted to kick off his season – and the Warriors’ – campaign with a bang.

4. 53 points vs New Orleans Pelicans

Curry must love playing against the Pelicans as he always seems to be in red-hot form against the New Orleans outfit. This was the case four days after he scored 40 points on opening night. Curry dropped an incredible 53 points on Halloween, during which he made eight three-pointers.

3. 51 points vs Orlando Magic

Just a short while after the NBA All-Star Weekend, Curry had yet another 50-point night as he scored 51 in a 130-114 win over the Magic. Curry sunk 10 three-pointers and went on to grab seven rebounds and dish out eight assists.

2. 46 points vs Oklahoma City Thunder

Two nights after his spectacular game against the Magic, Curry tied an NBA record as he made 12 three-pointers in a tense 121-118 win over the Thunder. Only Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall had achieved the feat prior to Curry joining them. The reigning MVP went on to finish the game with 46 points, three rebounds and six assists.

1. 46 points vs Memphis Grizzlies

This game had to be number one on the list as it was the final game in the regular season and the game the Warriors needed to win if they were going to beat the 1995/96 Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 record for the best regular season in NBA history. Knowing what was at stake, Curry took it upon himself to help the Warriors break the Bulls’ record as he scored 46 points on 15 of 24 shooting, which included 10 three-pointers.

Not enough Curry goodness for you? Well, the sit back and enjoy this…
