AZ Reid undergoes CT scan after bad fall in SMB’s win over NLEX

San Miguel Beer import Arizona Reid is set to undergo a CT scan (also called X-ray computed tomography) on his head following a bad fall in the third quarter against NLEX on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“I might go to the hospital now because I’m very dizzy.  I was trying to blink it out and try to like shake it off, but hope it’s not too severe,” Reid told reporters after the Beermen escaped with a 94-93 win over the Road Warriors behind Marcio Lassiter’s game-winning three-point shot.

Reid is heading to St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City in Taguig and will be accompanied by SMB physical therapist Edward Bacason.

The 30-year-old Reid said he got dizzy after hitting his head on the floor why going hard for a layup in the third quarter.

Though not 100-percent, the 6-foot-4 Reid told SMB coach Leo Austria to let him just play in the second half, hoping he could serve as a decoy against NLEX.

Reid scored just 4 points in the last 2 quarters, but made the biggest play when he found Lassiter wide-open in the dying seconds. He finished the game with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists.

The sweet-shooting San Miguel gunner went on to knock down the go-ahead three-point shot, sealing the Beermen’s 2nd straight win this conference in the process.

“I’m happy because Marcio made the shot,” said Reid, the former High Point standout. It’s a team game. And I tried to stay and be a decoy but I wasn’t effective,” he added.

“I wouldn’t want to shoot the last shot anyway because I knew I couldn’t make that so I know I have to pass the ball and Marcio came up so I could give it to him.”

Meanwhile, SMB physical therapist Gerald Tenorio said the CT scan is more of a standard procedure observed by the Beermen.

“Yes, standard procedure lang naman iyan ng team para lang maka-siguro sa nangyari kay AZ,” Tenorio said.- Richard Dy
