Alaska forward Calvin Abueva made sure his return from a one-game suspension would be a memorable one for him, and yes, for Manny Pacquiao.
The “Beast” played like a man possessed the moment Alaska coach Alex Compton inserted him into the game during the halfway point of the opening quarter.
Energized by the presence of Pacquiao, who was making his first PBA appearance since November 2015 against the same Aces side in Dubai, Abueva buried two three-point shots against the Mahindra playing coach.
The former PBA Rookie of the Year was physical from the onset, banging bodies with Pacquiao, who bravely defended Abueva for several possessions.
But by the time the 6-foot-1 Abueva buried his 2nd triple, he gave the 37-year-old Pacquiao a wide grin.
The Aces went into the locker room with a 54-39 halftime lead with Abueva shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the field for 15 points. – Richard Dy
