Joseph Yeo sparked Mighty Sports fiery second quarter scoring rampage as the Philippine representative went on to whip Westports Malaysia Dragons, 105-75 to advance to the Merlion Cup semifinals on Friday at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
The 6-foot-1 Yeo, loaned by GlobalPort, banged in nine points during Mighty Sports’ 11-4 run as the Filipinos went up, 41-29.
The Filipinos, mentored by Charles Tiu, sustained their form from there as Kiefer Ravena had two three-point plays, while Fil-American Matthew Wright caught fire from beyond the arc as Mighty Sports took a 77-51 advantage, entering the last period.
Wright paced Mighty Sports with 20 points while Yeo and import Dewarick Spencer chipped in 16 apiece.
American import Al Thornton added 14 as Mighty Sports tp Group B with its 2-0 record and will see action in the semifinals, possible against host Singapore Slingers.
