Rain or Shine big man Raymond Almazan is already recovering at home after being rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center, just shortly after leading the Elasto Painters to a big 92-88 win over erstwhile unbeaten Star Hotshots Sunday night.
The 6-7 ROS big man was given intravenous fluid upon arriving at the San Juan-based hospital after suffering from dehydration caused by fatigue.
Calinawan added that the former Letran star has been quickly discharged shortly thereafter so he can recover at home.
The soft-spoken ROS therapist said the team’s 10-day break will be good for Almazan and fellow Gilas teammate Gabe Norwood as they get enough time to recover physically since their recent stint in the FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon.
Almazan, running on adrenaline, finished the game with 13 points and 14 rebounds, before eventually suffering the effects of dehydration while resting at the team’d dugout. He was eventually stretchered out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum and brought straight to the hospital.
Rain or Shine won’t be back till September 6 when it faces powerhouse San Miguel Beer.
