Chooks-to-Go overwhelms Al Ahli, seals battle for 5th v Mono Vampire

Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas vented its ire on Shabab Al Ahli-UAE, 92-57 in the classification phase of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup on Friday at the Chenzhou Sports Center, in Chenzhou Hunan, China.

  • Fighting for pride: Booted out of the title picture after bowing to defending China Kashgar, 86-70 in their knockout quarterfinals, Chooks Pilipinas came out firing from the get-go behind Kiefer Ravena.
  • Hot-shooting Kiefer: The leading scorer for Chooks Pilipinas in the tournament, Ravena fired 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, finishing with an 8-of-11 shooting from the floor. Naturalized player candidate Isaiah Austin did just enough to register near double-double of 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in just 25 minutes of work, before sitting out the final period of the blowout win.
  • Dominating major departments: Chooks Pilipinas shot 52 percent from the floor (39-of-75), while dominating the rebounding department, 53-39. The national squad also had more assists, 17-8 against an Al Ahli squad that only played 6 players.
  • Battle for fifth: Chooks Pilipinas closes the tournament on Saturday where it faces Thailand Mono Vampire at 12:15 p.m. in the battle for fifth. The Filipinos clobbered the Thais, 115-102 in the preliminary phase on Sunday.
