Unheralded Lastimosa, 2 ex-pros lead Pasay’s MPBL campaign

LESSER known Ron Lastimosa, who played for National University several years ago, and ex-pros JP Belencion and Jan Jamon will be among the key players going to see action for the Pasay Voyagers, one of the expansion teams in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

To be coached by veteran mentor Cholo Martin, the Voyagers had decided to tap Lastimosa, second cousin of PBA great and current Bataan Risers coach Jojo Lastimosa, as one of the guards in the team.

Belencion, who played  briefly for the Meralco Bolts in the PBA. He was part of the NLEX-SCTEX team that won the championship in the Marikina City Basketball League last year. He also saw action in the PBA D-League, seeing action for different teams.

A deadshot swingman, Belencion can provide the team firepower from the perimeter.

Like Belencion, Jamon is anothre ex-pro, who can light up from way out.

After seeing action briefly for Kia in the PBA last conference, Jamon, a former Emilio Aguinaldo College stalwart, tried out for diffreent teams in the MPBL and ended up with Pasay.

Other key players in the Voyagers line up are RR de Leon, Roberto Bartolo and Julius Cadavis.

De Leon is a 6-foot-6 frontliner whpo played for the University of the East Warriors.

Bartolo, a 6-foot-5 center, played for College of St. Benilde a few years ago while Cadavis is a 6-foot-3 power forward who saw action for the Arellano University Chiefs.
