MPBL: Former Blackwater players to shore up Bulacan Kuyas

TWO former players of the Blackwater Elite had been tapped by newly-appointed coach Britt Reroma to beef up the Bulacan Kuyas in the coming Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League season.

Jeric Canada and Jason Mellano, two players who saw action for the Elite in the 2015 season, will be the latest addition to the rebuilding Kuyas squad.

This happened after the team opened up a spot for ex-pros following the exit of veteran cager and PBA legend Marlou Aquino.

A deadshot guard who made his mark playing for the Adamson Falcons, Canada will be a welcome addition to the backcourt of the Kuyas.

Melano, on the other hand, is a 6-foot-3 forward, who plays solid on both ends of the court.

“Huling competitive tournament ni Melano sa D-League, nasa Blackwater siya then hiniram namin siya sa Blu Star,” Reroma told FOX Sports Philippines in an exclusive interview. “Hiniram namin siya for Malaysia-Blu Star where I am part of the coaching staff. Si Jeric naman, player ko rin dati yan sa Malaysia. Kaya medyo familiar na rin ako sa kanya.”

For Reroma, coaching in the MPBL brings back great memories of the MBA.

“Mari-recall mo yung magagandang alaala. Ito na yun. Dati, I almost played in the MBA with Cagayan de Oro, but I finished school with San Beda, hindi natuloy. Ngayon parang dream come true kasi makakapag-coach naman ako dito sa MPBL,” added Reroma.
