Manny Pacquiao to return to the hardwood in UNTV Cup

‘They got championship DNA’ – LeBron on why Lakers lost to Raptors

Senator Manny Pacquiao is back to playing hoops again.

The eight-division boxing champion is set to play for the Senate Defenders in the Season 7 of the UNTV Cup, a league organized by government agencies and joined by ex-professional players, celebrities and public officials.

Senator Sonny Angara confirmed this development in an Instagram post.

The Senate Defenders won the league’s championship back in Season 6 in March 2018.

This marks Pacquiao’s return to a basketball league since 2016, where he last played for the Mahindra Floodbusters in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The franchise drafted him with its 11th pick back in the 2014 draft.

Pacquiao’s UNTV stint won’t be his first foray into basketball this year. Earlier this 2018, he founded the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), the fastest growing regional amateur basketball league in the Philippines.
