Djokovic plays down nerves over recent form

The first weekend of November was also the start second half of eliminations for the Metropolitan Basketball League Division 3 at the Victoria Sports Tower 2 at Kamuning, Quezon City.

Back in action for the first game of the day was Ball Istic and BNT Apples in a very close ball game. Thomas Alcantara led again Ball Istic with 24 huge points but it was Jann Guiterrez’s double-double for BNT Apples who led his team to another win to continue their winning streak.

For the second game it was then Kenneth Moccon led squad, Grundstein Construction, against Embassy Whiskey. Kenneth Moccon, quietly tallied 16 points in an off-shooting day for him. Embassy Whiskey took advantage of Grundstein Construction’s off-shooting and took over the game in a 78-61 victory for them, led by Roger Cabuenas and Mac Valentino’s combined 48 points.

Escaler and We Are Marawi were greeted by the two undefeated teams, Nougat and Red’s Autocare. Nougat was just too much for the undermanned Escaler, who was also undefeated before this game, as they got their first loss behind Manuel Canlapan’s 24.

Red’s Autocare in the fourth game stayed undefeated in an intense game against We Are Marawi. It as Michael Macaballug’s performance who carried them in offense and defense with 17 points and 7 huge steals.

Macaballug, with his performance in their game against We Are Marawi was not only the Player of the Game but also the Player of the Week for MetroBasket’s Week 5.

In the fifth game of the day, it was the bounce back game of Varda Marilag Deans and a must win game for Homies Basketball. Coming from a loss, Varda Marilag Deans was in their old defensive form as they deny Homies Basketball of another win and completed their bounce back game.

The last game was between Saints and Amoranto Ballers who both was looking for their first win of the season. In the end, it was Saints who came out the victory, 76-67, behind the double-double performance of Ian Pedernal.

It was an intense basketball day again for the Metropolitan Basketball League Division 3. The playoffs is just three weeks away and with just two more playing games, teams will definitely put their all in the hard court for a chance to win the first ever MetroBasket Division 3 Championship.
