Three weeks before the opening of the third season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, the Manila Stars are still searching for a new head coach who will take over the post vacated by Philip Cezar.
Cezar carried the Stars all the way to the championship round of the northern division finals in the recent Datu Cup before losing to eventual champion San Juan.
The management of the Stars confirmed the news to FOX Sports Philippines.
Cezar and several members of the coaching staff left following the change of leadership in the City of Manila.
The PBA Hall of Famer held a key position as head of the Manila Sports Council and has been a staunch supporter of former President and previous city Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada.
Cezar’s expected replacement has yet to be announced by the management, but candidates are likely to come from the PBA.
