Shortly after Gilas Pilipinas fell at the hands of the Adelaide 36ers, 85-75, in their second tune-up match on Sunday night at the Meralco Gym, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) bared its final 12 that will compete in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup in Foshan, China next Saturday.

Last week, head coach Yeng Guiao confirmed his shoo-ins in naturalized center Andray Blatche, Gilas mainstays Gabe Norwood and June Mar Fajardo, defensive anchor Japeth Aguilar, and TNT Katropa young studs RR Pogoy and Troy Rosario.

Joining the six are first-timers Robert Bolick and CJ Perez, along with Kiefer Ravena, Paul Lee, Raymond Almazan and Mark Barroca.

“These are the 12 gallant men who will fight for flag and country in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China but they would not have gotten this opportunity if it were not for the sacrifices of all the players, coaches, and staff that helped along the way throughout the FIBA Asian Qualifiers,” SBP President Al Panlilio said in a statement shortly after releasing the roster.

“This is YOUR Gilas Pilipinas and they’ll do their best to represent the 100 million Filipinos and promote the Philippine brand of basketball on the world stage. Para sa Bayan!”

Missing the cut are Poy Erram and Matthew Wright who are both dealing with injuries. Beau Belga was also cut from the team.

The national team will fly to China on Thursday, August 29.
