GAB Dagangon, a talented swingman who was able to show his full potential while playing for the Bataan Risers in the season just ended, is now headed to play for the Basilan Steel for next season’s MPBL wars.
Assistant general manager Jax Chua and head coach Jerson Cabiltes confirmed the news to FOX Sports Philippines in an online interview.
“We’ve just signed up Gab Dagangon to help our campaign next season,” wrote Chua.
A 6-foot-3 forward out of the University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta, Dagangon will be playing for his third MPBL team. He first suited up for the Paranaque Patriots-F2 Logistics, then joined the Zetapro-backed Risers in the MPBL Datu Cup where he emerged as one of the top gunners.
Dagangon is one of the many players acquired by the Steel, who are busy building up for next season’s MPBL.
Earlier, Basilan also signed up ex-pros Jonathan Uyloan and Tonton Bringas, ex-Quezon City Capitals guard Hesed Gabo, former Pasay Voyagers Bobby Balucanag, Jett Vidal and Shaq Alanes and big man Michole Sorrela, who played for the Navotas Clutch previously.
“Gab is a two-way player. He’s an elite defender and a proven scorer that can turn on the switch anytime,” added Chua. “But most of all, he’s very coachable and a professional, who is willing to adjust to his role anytime.”
Basilan had just wrapped up its open tryouts in Basilan and Zamboanga to open up spots for homegrown talents.
