RALPH Emerson Rivera may soon bring his coaching career to a new level as he is now in talks with the Rizal Crusaders for a possible coaching stint in the MPBL team next season.
This was confirmed by Rivera himself in an exclusive online interview with FOX Sports Philippines.
“Mayroong talks (on the head coaching job), but it’s not yet signed pa,” wrote Rivera. “I talked to the owner (of the franchise) and maganda naman usapan namin.”
A former national team standout who also played for the San Bed Red Lions and the Batangas Blades in the MBA, Rivera coached the Our Lady of Fatima Phoenix in the collegiate leagues and the Supremo Lex Builders in the defunct Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League.
Pending the inking of the agreement, Rivera will take over the coaching post vacated by former PBA player Braulio Lim, who could only lead the Xentro Mall-backed Crusaders to a 7-18 record, the worst in the southern division of the MPBL Datu Cup.
“They gave me their draft of line-up. Meron mga expros. We will meet to finalize and talk to them,” added Rivera. “It’s really a total revamp. Only three to four players who might stay.”
The Crusaders will have an open tryout on Monday and Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo beginning 10:30 a.m.
