Mindoro latest expansion team to join as league participation continues to grow

Toronto Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard nails nine 3’s in a row!

THERE’S a new team joining the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and it will come to form the Land of the Tamaraws.

MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes confirmed to FOX Sports Philippines this latest development after a group from Calapan, Mindoro represented by Justin Tan, a member of La Salle Green Hills coaching staff, met with league founder and chief executive officer Senator Manny Pacquiao during the team owners’ meeting Thursday.

“Approved na yung Mindoro,” said Duremdes while informing a small group of sportswriters at the Century Park Hotel. “Inaantay na lang yung Iloilo and yung Mandaluyong.”

Following Christian Singson’s takeover of Nueva Ecija, Mandaluyong is now looking for takers as the league is now holding the rights of the El Tigre franchise.

Iloilo, on the other hand, has two groups vying to get the rights of an MPBL franchise and Senator Pacquiao is expected to make his decision soon.
