Former Muntinlupa Cager Felix Apreku has traveled from south to north to join the Pampanga Dong Lanterns and will combine forces with Marlon Gomez up front this coming MPBL season.
Apreku is one of the key additions of the team which also acquired Riel Cervantes from Manila, and Wilson Baltazar and Dan Alberto from Imus Bandera.
Pampanga coach Bong Ramos told FOX Sports Philippines that having both frontliners on his team will be a big boost in their quest to make the playoffs of the fastest growing regional amateur basketball league put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.
“Makakatulong talaga sa amin itong dalawa. Getting these players means we can now get more rebounds,” Ramos said in a telephone interview.
Both players are among the top rebounders in the season just passed.
Apreku averaged 10.43 rebounds per game on top of producing 10.25 points per game.
Gomez, on the other hand, is making a return to the Lanterns. He was traded in the mid-season for Levy Hernandez.
The undersized center averaged 12.94 points and 10 boards while playing for the Clutch.
But Ramos, clarified that Apreku and Gomez, will hardly play together at the same time.
“They will play the big man role for our team and will play alongside Riel Cervantes,” added Ramos.
