Pampanga adds ex-Rain or Shine frontliner Dexter Maiquez, unveils new name for coming MPBL season

Shaquille O’Neal goes wild in mosh pit at Tomorrowland

BURLY frontliner Dexter Maiquez, who previously played for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, will be the latest inclusion of Pampanga in the coming third season of the MPBL.

Head coach Bong Ramos confirmed this development to FOX Sports Philippines in an online message.

“We’ve just acquired Dexter Maiquez from Rain or Shine,” wrote Ramos.

Maiquez is a 6-foot-4, lefty frontliner who has a decent touch from the perimeter at the same time a solid post defender. He will join fellow ex-pro Riel Cervantes, Marlon Gomez and Felix Apreku in a beefed up Pampanga, which will now carry a new moniker.

From Pampanga Dong Lanterns, the team owned by Congressman Dong Gonzales will now be known as the Pampanga Giant Lanterns.

Team manager Simon Manguio made this confirmation after sending the new logo design of the squad in honor of the Giant Lantern Festival being held annually in the province.
