John Wilson on fire as San Juan stays hot after nine games

James hits dramatic buzzer-beating three as CSKA edge Zalgiris 85-82

San Juan flexed its muscles anew and imposed its superiority over Nueva Ecija, 109-95, to stay undefeated in the MPBL Lakan Season.

The Go For Gold-backed Knights picked up their ninth straight win and continued its reign atop the team standings after nine games. The defending champions had no plans of slowing down in the fastest growing regional amateur basketball league’s third season.

Leading the charge for the Knights was John Wilson, who lighted up the scoreboard with 26 points, including five three-point baskets.

Fellow ex-pro Mac Cardona added 18 markers while Jhonard Clarito and Larry Rodriguez had 14 and 13 points, respectively for the Knights, who scored 56 points inside the shaded lane — 16 more than their rivals.

So explosive was San Juan that even its bench production was far more superior than the MiGuards, 53-33.

Nueva Ecija absorbed its sixth loss in eight games to fall deeper in the standings of the tough northern division of this tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.
