San Juan stretches winning run to 10 to stay perfect as Pasay sustains streak

‘They got championship DNA’ – LeBron on why Lakers lost to Raptors

Ten games this season and the reigning champions San Juan Knights had remained unscathed.

The Go For Gold-backed Knights tamed the Cebu Sharks, 88-69, in the MPBL Lakan Season Monday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.

John Wilson knocked in 23 points while Mac Cardona added 16 as the two ex-PBA stalwarts led the way to lead the Knights to their 10th straight win.

After 10 games, San Juan remained unbeaten as it kept its hold of the solo lead and stayed on as the only unbeaten squad in the tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.

Mike Ayonayon added 12 while Jhonard Clarito came away with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds for San Juan.

Pasay sustained its winning run on Monday night, this after the Voyagers outlasted the Rizal Golden Coolers, 74-69, in the other game.

It was the sixth win in 11 games for the Voyagers, who are now beginning to get their second win after suffering four consecutive losses.

“It’s more of the players. Talagang nakita ko rin sila, lalo na yung last game na natalo kami, nasaktan sila. As a coach, na-recognize ko rin na ganito nararamdaman nila, kinuha ko yung pagkakataon na i-motivate sila sa sakit na nararamdaman nila,” said Pasay coach Marlon Keith Martin.
