Kerwin McCoy and the Bulacan Kuyas remain undefeated together, this after they nipped the Navotas Clutch, 105-104, in a thrilling double overtime finish at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Under new leadership, the team has won three straight games that put the squad temporarily into a tie for sixth to seventh spots with the Pasay Voyagers with an 8-5 win-loss slate.

Instead of feeling pride, McCoy could only heave a sigh of relief and couldn’t hide his frustrations despite winning his third game as mentor.

“Actually, hindi ko alam yung feeling ko ngayon. We won, but I’m frustrated. I expect more on my players. Yun ang kinakatakot ko coming from a big win, yung complacency. But hats off to them. What’s important is the finish. Nanalo naman kami,” McCoy told FOX Sports Philippines.

“By God’s grace, and the hard work of the players, we’re still undefeated together.”

After coming away with a huge upset win over Makati, the Kuyas were pushed to the limit by the game Navotas squad. Clutch baskets from Dan Sara eventually bailed his team out in the end.

McCoy said his transition from an assistant coach of previous mentor Britt Reroma, now head coach of the Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines, to now a full-time bench tactician wasn’t difficult.

“Ang advantage kasi sa akin, I’ve been working with them since the start of the season. Alam ko na yung tendencies nila. Pero titingnan ko pa rin kung talagang maglalaro sila sa akin all the way.” added McCoy.
