THE coaching staff of the Quezon City Capitals headed by Vis Valencia and his assistants has stepped down simultaneously on the heels of the team’s slumping campaign in the MPBL Lakan Season.
Valencia confirmed the resignation as the official in a post on his Facebook account.
“After more than two seasons as head coach of the Quezon City Capitals, I together with my coaching staff, have decided to step down and relinquish our positions effective immediately due to personal reasons. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the QC Capitals owners, management, sponsors, players, and fans for all the support and memories. We wish them good luck in the ongoing Lakan season. Go Capitals!,” posted Valencia.
Joining Valencia in the exodus are Nel Parado, EJ Deveza, GP Valencia, FRo Labrador and Jayson Santos.
A perennial playoff contender, the Capitals had struggled this season after losing key players prior to the start of the tournament. Among those who left the squad were Hesed Gabo, Andoy Estrella, and Jay Collado, mainstays of the team and part of Quezon City’s playoff squads in the first two seasons.
The Capitals did acquire several new personnel this season, including Aaron Black and Tonino Gonzaga, but both of them were shipped out of the team as well.
