Patrick Cabahug, son of former PBA star Boy Cabahug, will be the latest addition to the Zamboanga Valientes team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Team owner Yacob Ati confirmed this to FOX Sports Philippines in an exclusive online interview.
But Ati clarified that Cabahug will be only able to join them by the end of June.
“He is still playing in the Thailand League, so he will join us by end of June,” wrote Ati.
Cabahug will be the latest ex-pro to play in the Valientes camp. Earlier, they tapped Leo Avenido, former MVP of the ABL, ex-Barako Bull guard Reed Juntilla and Jonatan Pareno, who briefly played for Kia.
But more than the ex-pros, the team, according to Ati, takes pride in bringing eight to nine homegrown players.
“Our Zamboangueno fans are excited to see our team. We will give opportunities to our homegrown and hopefully develop future stars in the mold of Mark Barroca, the Lanete brothers and Sonny Thoss, among others,” wrote Ati.
