Former Letran Knight to join Pasig Pirates

Greek Hero scores 41 for winning Bucks

The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) newcomers Pasig Pirates have added championship experience to their backcourt before the season tips off on June 12.

The Gameville-backed team has secured the services of former Letran Knight Boyet Bautista. Bautista, a two-time NCAA champion and a SEA Games medalist, was supposed to join the team in a tune up game against the Valenzuela Classic Wednesday night.

“He would be joining in by Thursday, instead. Kakaapprove lang sa kanya nung Tuesday,” team owner James Machate told “Paglalaruin ko siya sana (against Valenzuela), kaso he opted to rest out muna.”

Bautista will be reunited with college teammate Kojack Melegrito.

Machate, meanwhile, has set his eyes on another player – former UE Red Warrior Bonbon Custodio.

“I am trying to keep in touch with Bonbon Custodio, nasa ligang labas pa lang siya ngayon,” Machate revealed. “Hinihintay ko lang ang sagot niya hanggang Sabado.”

The deadline for the submission of rosters for the next MPBL season is on Monday.
