Ex-Senator Estrada urges mandatory drug testing in MPBL

Greek Hero scores 41 for winning Bucks

AT the height of the doping incident involving PBA star Kiefer Ravena, former Senator and current San Juan Knights team owner Jinggoy Estrada has urged the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League to impose mandatory drug testing to all the players seeing action for the coming next season.

“Required dapat yun,” Estrada told FOX Sports Philippines.

According to Estrada, he had already started doing it on his team, submitting all his players to undergo drug testing, but encouraged the league to require all the teams to do such.

In the PBA, the league would randomly pick names of players who will undergo drug testing right after the game.

A staunch supporter of basketball, Estrada has been managing the San Juan Knights since 1998, but even before that, he has actively participated as playing owner of the team in minor commercial leagues like the PICAA and Inter-Cities and Municipalities.

His Knights team won the MBA championship in Year 2000.
