DESPITE advisory from operations head Zaldy Realubit on Muntinlupa to choose between Felix Apreku and Chester Saldua as its Fil-foreign player, the Angelis Resort-backed Cagers are willing to take the gamble using both in the game.
“Eh di kung napatunayan nila na hindi Pilipino si Apreku, willing kami na i-forfeit yung panalo namin,” said team owner Lito Alvarez, former chairman of the PBA.
On opening day last Tuesday, the Cagers fielded in both Apreku and Saldua.
Alvarez added that they’ve already secured a document, including a DOJ certificate that Apreku is a Filipino, which means only Saldua, who was born to a Lebanese mother, is the Fil-foreign player.
Realubit said they would still look at the documents of Apreku to see if he’s a local player or a Fil-foreign.
