JR Cawaling and Paul Sanga’s partnership goes way back and the two had a chance to rekindle their tandem with MPBL team Caloocan Supremos.
In the team’s first game of the season, the pair quickly made their presence felt, not just by scoring, but more importantly in displaying leadership.
“Yung addition namin hindi naman rin ganung kalaking impact. Gawin lang namin yung pinagagawa ng coaches then provide leadership,” Sanga told FOX Sports Philippines in an exclusive interview.
Sanga and Cawaling were long-time teammates with the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.
A few months ago, they found themselves reunited as they played in the Thailand League. When opportunity was presented to them to play for the Supremos, they both decided to grab it and head home.
Sanga was supposed to suit up as early as last season, but couldn’t commit due to his offer to play in Thailand.
“Naglaro ako sa kanila nung preseason, tapos naglaro ako ng Thailand. Nag-promise naman ako sa kanila na pagtapos ng liga ko sa Thailand, babalik ako sa kanila. Tapos, isasama ko si JR (Cawaling),” added Sanga.
While in Thailand, Sanga and Cawaling were trying to keep track of the games, watching via live stream, so when they got the chance of playing in front of Pinoy crowd, they’ve renewed the excitement.
“Nung nanonood nga kami sa Thailand, parang sinasabi namin ang sarap maglaro kasi homecourt mo, marmaing supporters galing Caloocan, galing ibang lugar. Mas masarap pa rin talaga maglaro sa bansa mo,” added Sanga.
