IMUS — Miles away from home, the General Santos Warriors were absolute stone when they played the Imus Bandera-GLC Truck and Equipment and their hometown cheering crowd.
The visitors have only one thing in mind — win — and that’s what exactly they did as they outlasted the Bandera, 79-73, in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Imus City Sports Complex.
Supported by Golden State College, the Warriors jumped the gun early by leading 23-9 to set the tempo of the game.
Leading the way for the Warriors was Leomar Losentes, a veteran guard who played in the PBL, D-League and Liga Pilipinas, but spent the past decade playing in “ligang labas.”
He finished with 20 points, including five three-point shots.
Delmar Mahaling added 13 markers and Christopher Masaglang contributed 12 for the Warriors, who handed the Bandera their second straight loss in the tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former league MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.
“Every practice namin yung depensa pinaghahandaan namin eh. Kasi underdog kami. Every game yung chance lang namin manalo kailangan sa depensa,” added Losentes.
