Rain or Shine-Pilipinas stalwart Poy Erram wants to see CdO playing in MPBL

Basketball 3-pointer: High school athlete with a disability hits shot of a lifetime

JAKARTA — Poy Erram is one of the most promising big men playing in the PBA today and it didn’t come as a surprise when head coach Yeng Guiao asked for his services for the Rain or Shine-Pilipinas squad.

As intense as their games are in the basketball competitions in the Asian Games, Erram is one of those enjoying the intensity of games in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). A 6-foot-8 center who plays for Blackwater in the PBA, Erram took time out to visit one of the games of the Quezon City Capitals-Black Mamba where his friend, Fro Labrador, works as a physical therapist.

“Andun yung kaibigan ko. He invited me to watch the games kaya nagpunta ako,” Erram told FOX Sports Philippines. According to Erram, games in the MPBL are so exciting because teams take pride carrying their hometown on their chests. “Kita mo yung paano sila maglaro at paano suportahan ng mga fans kasi nga dala-dala nila yung lugar nila eh,” added Erram. “Kaya napaka-exciting ng mga games kasi todo suporta ng nga fans.”

Erram, who hails from Cagayan de Oro, is proud of his roots and had he not been playing in the PBA, he would have played for a team from his hometown if there’s a team there entered in the MPBL.

“Siguro kung may team ang Cagayan de Oro dyan tapos hindi ako naglalaro sa PBA, baka naglro rin ako sa kanila kasi gaganahan ka maglaro dahil sa suporta ng mga fans eh,” added Erram.
