ALDRIN Morante had no hard feelings seeing his successor Aldin Ayo calling the shots for the Muntinlupa Cagers-Angelis Resort. In fact, he remains to be a supportive part of the coaching staff where he is now serving as consultant.
“Consultant ang magiging papel ko. Wala namang malaking pagbabago so tutulong pa rin ako,” Morante told FOX Sports Philippines. “Kung mayroong pagbabago, ito yung pressure defense namin.”
Ayo said mayhem is about being unpredictable both in offense and defense, but it was in the latter where his presence was clearly felt more.
Veteran guard Allan Mangahas noticed the changes brought by Ayo’s arrival in Muntinlupa.
“Mas focused siya sa depensa, yung pressure defense. Para kaming college team,” added Mangahas.
For Ayo, the mayhem defense is a good fit for the Cagers, last season’s runner-up to Batangas City Athletics-Tanduay.
“Kasi yung mga players ko, parang mga college players pa rin, nakakatakbo kaya konti lang yung adjustment,” he added. “Pero we still have a lot to improve.”
