THE Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League has found a new covering partner, which could open its doors to international audience and Filipinos based overseas.

FOX Sports will be carrying the Monday games beginning November 5 at the Caloocan Sports Complex as the fastest growing regional amateur basketball league has increased the number of play dates in the ongoing Datu Cup to five times a week.

On Wednesday, FOX Sports, represented by Jude Turcuato, who heads the network group’s Philippine operations, and the MPBL headed by its founder Senator Manny Pacquiao and league commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, formalized the partnership.

FOX Sports is coming in to show the games of the MPBL once a week while also helping the league out in other digital platforms.

With FOX Sports coming in as a partner of MPBL, the season will be shortened from its prolonged schedule stretched nearly a year.

MPBL operations head Zaldy Realubit, whose early projection the tournament could stretch for about 11 months, especially with several cancellation of games due to bad weather, believes the season could be shortened to nine months following the entry of FOX Sports.

Games at S + A, the sports channel of ABS-CBN, meanwhile, will be continuously shown four times a week every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
