Bulacan Kuyas arrest alarming MPBL skid, outlast Pasig Pirates

‘They got championship DNA’ – LeBron on why Lakers lost to Raptors

MALVAR, BATANGAS — Finally, a sigh of relief for the Bulacan Kuyas-Mighty Sports.

The Kuyas arrested an alarming skid on Tuesday night, but not after outlasting the Pasig Pirates, and getting back on track in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Batangas State University here.

Ex-pros James Martinez and Jason Melano combined for 41 points, while JR Taganas added 12 and Jan Colina had a double-double effort for the Kuyas, who snapped back-to-back losses and improved their win-loss card to 12-8.

The victory allowed the Kuyas to strengthen their hold of the No. 5 spot in the tough northern division of this tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as the commissioner.

Colina had a breakthrough performance since being acquired by the Kuyas as he ended up with 11 points and 10 boards.

The loss was the 16th in 19 games for the Pirates, who engaged their opponent in yet another high-scoring game.

Curiously, Pasig’s bench production outscored Bulacan, 72-29, yet the owner of the tournament’s worst record could not capitalize and lost steam in the end.
