San Juan reclaims 2nd spot in MPBL north after dumping Paranaque

‘I am not satisfied. Our goal is to win the Championship’ – Lowry on NBA Finals

Host team San Juan Knights found themselves tested by the Paranaque Patriots, but managed to preserve an 87-77 triumph and reclaimed the second spot in the northern division of the MPBL Datu Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

The Knights, supported by Go-For-Gold, bucked the absence of top gun John Wilson, but got big games from frontliners Larry Rodriguez and Larry Muyang. The team also got a rejuvenated performance from Mac Cardona, allowing San Juan to notch its 17th win in 21 games.

With the win, San Juan moved into a tie with Manila, but by virtue of win over the other rule, the Knights reclaimed the number two spot.

The Knights survived a steady game from Paolo Castro, who finished with 25 points, but San Juan’s steady team game was very much evident in the game.

San Juan dished out 33 assists, 11 more than Paranaque, which suffered its fifth straight defeat. The latest loss sent the F2 Logistics-backed Patriots to 10th spot with an 8-10 record.
