Banal returns to spark Bacoor to crucial MPBL win vs Imus

’33 pts in the 2nd half’s not going to do it’ Trailblazers go 3-0 down to Warriors in playoffs

Bacoor held Imus without a field goal in the final 2:52 of the match then came up with a big scoring burst on its way to scoring a 90-79 triumph in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome on Wednesday night.

In between making stops, the Strikers were able to unload a telling 13-4 run to end the game strong and notch their 11th win in 20 games.

Conspiring in that crucial run were Gab Banal and Rocky Acidre, who came away with big baskets that capped a big endgame spurt for the Strikers.

Banal and Acidre each tallied each 16 points as Bacoor kept a hold of the fifth spot in the southern division of this tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.

Imus absorbed its 12th loss in 21 games, putting the squad into a tie for seventh to eighth spots with the Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines in this tournament also supported by LGR, the official outfitter of the MPBL.

The battle between crosstown rivals had to be decided in the final three minutes of the game, but Bacoor was more assertive playing inside the paint where it outscored Imus, 44-26.

Bacoor’s bench players also outscored their rivals, 34-19.
