‘They got championship DNA’ – LeBron on why Lakers lost to Raptors

Showing its balance firepower anew, General Santos City was able to survive a big second half rally by Mandaluyong before preserving a 93-89 triumph in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex here.

Chis Masaglang knocked in 10 of his 19 points in the fourth period and teamed up with John Orbeta in holding off an El Tigre uprising before notching their 14th win in 24 games.

Following their latest win, the Golden State College-backed Warriors moved up in a share of third to fourth places with the Batangas City Athletics.

The two teams will break the deadlock when they collide on Monday at the Batangas City Coliseum.

Orbeta added 17 points while Mark Christopher Racho and Rodulfo Villaruel chipped in 14. Leomar Losentes had a double-double output of 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors, who had 28 points coming off the El Tigre’s 18 turnovers.

General Santos City led by as many as 21 points, 49-28, but Mandaluyong had 17 unanswered points in a big third quarter run to level the count at 57-all, setting up an exciting windup.

In the end, the Warriors showed more spunk to edge their rivals.
