Bataan, the No.1 team in the northern division of the MPBL Datu Cup, will try to wrap up its elimination round campaign with a win against lowly Pasig Thursday at the Navotas Sports Complex.
Host team Clutch, meanwhile, will battle the Quezon City Capitals in another crucial encounter that could determine the placings of those teams headed to the playoffs.
The Risers, owner of the tournament’s best record, will take on the Pirates in the first game at 7 p.m. followed by the match between the Clutch and the Capitals at 9 p.m.
Bataan carries a 22-2 card and is poised to enter the playoff round on a winning note when it shoots for a victory against a Pasig team that holds the tournament’s worst record.
With only four wins to show in 24 games, the Pirates are determined to end their campaign in high spirits.
Bataan coach Jojo Lastimosa could use this game as well to do some experiment and see who among those in the roster can contribute once the playoff starts.
But the main game between Navotas and Quezon City is more interesting. Only half a game separates both teams and the victor would secure the No. 6 seat.
The Capitals, backed by Black Mamba Energy Drink, carry a 12-12 win-loss record while the Clutch hold an 11-2 card.
