The Marikina Shoemasters had just started preparing for next season’s MPBL season and putting celebrity baller Gerald Anderson on top of the list is definitely a no-brainer.
Anderson will be one of the few holdovers of the Shoemasters, who are out to come up with a revamped roster that will allow them to compete against the big dogs in the league.
Head coach Elvis Tolentino confirmed the news to FOX PH in an exclusive online interview.
“Ang maiiwan si Gerald, (Yves) Sazon, (JR) Ng-Sang, (Renato) Ular, Jondan (Salvador), (Ronald) Roy,” wrote Tolentino.
Anderson emerged as one of the best defensive players in the league, averaging close to two steals per game.
Sazon was one of the most dependable three-point shooters of the MPBL Datu Cup, while Ng-Sang is a solid post defender. Ular, meanwhile, has been a consistent two-way player up front.
Salvador brings toughness and championship experience while Roy is a decent backcourt player for the Shoemasters.
Tolentino added that Christian Caldozo, a six-foot guard who played for Greenville University Panthers, and transferred to play for Philippine Christian University, is the latest inclusion in Marikina’s roster.
