76ers star Joel Embiid fined $25K for criticizing officials after loss to Celtics

The 76ers star told the media the referees “f—ing suck” Tuesday after his team’s 112-109 loss to the Celtics.

Joel Embiid has been fined $25,000 for publicly criticizing referees, the NBA announced Wednesday.

The 76ers star told the media the officials “f—ing suck” Tuesday after his team’s 112-109 loss to the Celtics.

Embiid, 24, leads Philadelphia in points, rebounds and blocks. He is averaging 27.3 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest in 2018-19.

The 76ers surprisingly acquired Tobias Harris from the Clippers before the trade deadline. The loss to Boston was their first since making the move.

Although Philadelphia fell short against the Celtics, it ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference standings.

The 76ers will attempt to bounce back against the Knicks on Wednesday.
