NLEX guard Kevin Alas doubtful in PBA Blitz Game due to sprain on both ankles

Toronto Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard nails nine 3’s in a row!

NLEX sophomore guard Kevin Alas is doubtful in the PBA All-Star Blitz game this Friday after spraining both ankles in practice.

Alas said he sprained his left ankle on Saturday, before tweaking his right two days later in practice. But the youthful NLEX guard still showed up in civilian clothes on Wednesday during the Road Warriors’ crucial tiff against a unbeaten TNT Katropa at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Aside from the ankle injury, the former Letran Knight said he also has mild fever.

“Di ko pa sure kung kakayanin (to play in the PBA Blitz game),” Alas told FOX Sports just before the start of the NLEX-TNT match.

The six-foot Alas is part of the Greats team, along with fellow sophomores Maverick Ahanmisi and Anthony Semerad, PBA D-League’s Phoenix trio of Ed Daquiaog, Mac Belo and RR Pogoy.

Backstopping the Greats are PBA legends Noli Locsin, Johnny Abarrientos, Bong Ravena and Richard del Rosario, where they are to go up against the Stalwarts bannered by Alaska’s Chris Banchero, and Star team manager Alvin Patrimonio.

Alas said he hopes to rejoin NLEX on August 12 when the Road Warriors go up against the Star Hotshots. – Jason Mercene
