Coach Yeng Guiao is bothered by Rain or Shine’s mediocre showing this conference.
Months after claiming the Commissioners Cup, the Elasto Painters are slacking off midway in the eliminations after suffering their third loss against three wins and fell to solo 5th place.
“I’m not really sure but we’re way off our game from last conference,” admitted Guaio following their 101-87 defeat at the hands of the surging Brgy. Ginebra on Sunday at the Big Dome.
The former Pampanga solon is puzzled with their current predicament despite relatively healthy compared to their title run last conference.
“I’m a little worried because by this time, our 6th game in the eliminations, we should be peaking up,” he said, noting that wingman Jireh Ibanez is the only player in their injured list.
Not leaving anything to chance despite a good footing in the playoffs, Guiao stressed he will be taking the issue as an urgent matter for the coaching staff to resolve in the coming days.
But as far as the multi-titled mentor is concerned, he doesn’t believe that their debacle is solely because of their import Dior Lowhorn, as he treats it as more of a chemistry issue.
“Our import had been consistent, so we cannot pin this down on the import, our locals have to take some of the responsibility, but ang tingin kong wala sa amin, we’re not as cohesive as last conference,” he said. – By Jason Mercene
