The PBA is in deep talks with top bus companies, including JAM Transit, to provide its ticketholders an easier access to the Philippine Sports Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan for its double-header Christmas Day treat in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup.
Media bureau chief Willy Marcial disclosed the development on Friday night, hoping league fans will come in droves to the 55,000-seater venue owned by Iglesia Ni Cristo which will serve as the latest battleground of the ‘Manila Clasico’ between crowd favorites Barangay Ginebra and Star.
“As of now, may mga buses tayo sa Cubao, Buendia, saka tinitingnan pa natin ibang stations. Makakasakay dun sa mga buses ‘yung mga may tickets. Kausap namin ang JAM Transit,” said Marcial.
Serving as the curtain-raiser in the annual Christmas Day treat are Blackwater and Mahindra.
Both the Elite and the Floodbuster saw action when the two expansion teams made their debut in the pro league’s 40th season in October 2014, serving as the appetizer to the blockbuster Ginebra-TNT showdown.
That double-header drew the largest single attendance record of 52,612 fans—the most in pro league history—and any other indoor sports event—thus far.
Marcial said tickets for the Christmas Days games will be sold starting Saturday via Ticketnet. – Jerome Lagunzad
