Greg Slaughter, the seven-foot slotman of Barangay Ginebra, will be back in action on limited minutes, which means everything remains as a work in progress for the Gin Kings.
“We’re hoping to bust out and get going this conference with a win. With Greg back on restricted minutes, we’ll try to use our size to our advantage and create mismatches. Needless to say, we need to start developing some momentum before it gets too late,” wrote Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone in a text message to FOX Sports Philippines.
Slaughter is coming off from a severe ankle sprain and Cone would use him gradually in their 7 p. m. encounter against Blackwater.
The Gin Kings and the Elite are two winless teams in the tournament. Blackwater had lost its first four games while Ginebra lost two in a row.
People are starting to speculate that the Gin Kings are about to bring in Justin Brownlee, the well-loved import who is coming off a successful campaign in the ABL.
Cone dismissed such talks right away.
“He’s (Brownlee) injured, so we’re sticking with Charles Garcia,” added Cone.
