STRUGGLING to find their groove early in this Commissioner’s Cup, the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings are now dealing with a 1-3 record.
“We have a tough, make or break weekend ahead and we need a sense of urgency since we’re pulling up the rear in the standings,” Tim Cone said to FOX Sports PH.
However, despite their predicament, the head coach and the rest of the team are beaming with optimism, especially with Justin Brownlee’s impending return.
“Needless to say, we’re all very happy that Justin is back with us and 100% healthy. He gives all of us, players and coaching staff, confidence and renewed energy, and we’re hoping his presence will get us over the hump this weekend,” said the multi-titled mentor of Ginebra.
Crowd favorite Justin Brownlee posted averages of 21.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game in his successful stint in the ABL, where he helped in winning the championship for Alab Pilipinas.
Brownlee and the Gin Kings are slated to face off against the Meralco Bolts on Friday and the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday, where the former will get to face former Alab Pilipinas teammate Renaldo Balkman.
Both games will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena.
