After spending most of his rookie year observing on the sidelines, the 26-year-old has decided to shift his focus on his family’s business and continue as a basketball analyst.

In a brief post on his social media accounts, Manuel thanked everyone who helped him along his basketball journey and bared no regrets on leaving the pros quite early.

“Grateful. To Ginebra. To UP. To Xavier. To my coaches. To my teammates. To my family. To the fans,” the former UP Fighting Maroon captain captioned a photo of himself during the 2017 PBA Draft, where he was picked 12th overall by Ginebra.

“It was definitely short, but definitely sweet. Choosing to retire wasn’t easy but I’m excited for everything that lies ahead. I’ll always be connected to the game of basketball, but in a different form this time,” he added.

A crowd favorite whenever he received playing time, Manuel’s post was flooded by with well-wishes from fans, as well as fellow PBA players like Gabe Norwood, Sol Mercado, Jervy Cruz and Chris Tiu.

But perhaps the best comment came from Ginebra’s resident ‘kuya’ Mark Caguioa, who had this to say.

“Jet wtf i just landed lol ur retiring? Lol inunahan mo pako🤣🤣🤣,” he wrote.
